May, 2003 -- The Commission -- He is a male scorpien, 6'3" tall, weighing 157 pounds. He has eyes the color of the deepest sunset, sort of a dusty red.. He has a light brown carapace with a black streak along the right side, not very large, about a foot long and two inches wide, kind of a birthmark. His is missing the smallest finger on his left hand, a burn scar over the knuckle. Drasoini is a kind hearted scorpien.

1. Here's a rough view of what I have in mind. I want to give him a kind-hearted expression, and come up with an outfit that doesn't cover up too much of their natural carapace.

(right) 2. Here's the completed rough sketch. I decided to go with a gladitor-style outfit. It looks suitably exotic and goes well with the natural armour. Haven't added the shield yet, but it will be slung over his shoulder.

3. The colouring begins. I'm imagining a dusty, desert-like feeling.

"I love the way you have pictured Dras, it really fits him. It gets my approval!"

(right) 4. Started working some highlights and shadows in the upper part of the body. Also started looking for a base colour for the toga.

5. I've done some more work on the head, clearing up the bone structure. Also cleaned up the right arm and added more colour to the toga. The balance of the figure looked off to me, so I made him lean a little more forward.

6. (right) Finished the one hand and worked some more on the toga. I'm going to create a simple, desert-style background, so I've layed down some basic cloud shapes.

7. I've finished the tunic and added some texture to the carapace. Started to work on the tail, and I've layed down a basic guide for where the sword will go. Oh yeah, and the eyes.

(right) 8. Almost done. I've added the sword, and some more details on the carapace. The other hand is done and I've started working on the tail. There's really only the tail, shield and background left to finish.
