May, 2003 -- The Commission -- I'd like Amaka pretty much draped in front of Seranith, the curve of her breast exposed as she looks over her shoulder at the viewer with a devious smirk on her lips. Seranith has one arm wrapped protectively about her waist and staring evilly at the viewer. something like that. oh yea, Amaka has nothing on but acrimson satin sheet wrapped around her waist (more like falling off of her waist).

1. Here's a rough outline of the pose I imagine for Amaka.

(right) 2. A little more detail.

3. Some work on Seranith...here's how I imagine the two of them together.

(right) 4. This is basically the picture I have in mind, minus the top of the staff, which I'm still designing. If this is ok I'll get started on colour.

"Not to sound plaintive, cos i'm not, can you make Seranith look frailer? He looks like he's really built."

5. Ok, I've slimmed Seranith down and put the two on top of a basic background. Since the characters are both evil, I thought a dark background with some spooky lighting would be appropriate.

(right) 6. Some more work done...I've layed down Amaka's golden skin tones and have done some work bringing out Seranith's expression.

"Amaka looks soooooooooooooo cute. i love it!!! ooooo and the staff would look so fantastic if it was all gnarly with grotesquely carved stuff in it."

7. I've started laying down some basic shadows and highlights to develop Amaka's face.

(right) 8. I've added the eyes and lips to Amaka, as well as some work on the fleshtones. Added the base for the sheet, and put some of the crimson into the background to unify things.

"WOW so far so good!! I love the progress you're making!! Thanks! "

9. Added Seranith's eyes and lips, and have done more rendering on the hands and robe.

(right) 10. Let's see, in this step I've detailed the folds of the sheet Amaka is wearing, and have rendered the skin on her lower torso and arm. I've also blocked in the basic form of her hair, and have added a few more details to Seranith's robe as well.

"The portrait is beautiful!! Can't wait to see the final outcome. Seranith's player LOVES the portrait as well!!"

11. I've done some more work on Amaka's skin, as well as the hair of both characters. Started to add in the gnarly staff effect.

(right) 12. Let's see...I've finished the hair on both characters, added some reflected light, and lowered Amaka's breast a little so it looks more anatomically correct. The staff is almost finished, and I've started to work some character colours into the background. Getting there....
